SGI, a Standard Industries company, inched higher on a roster of the nation's top 100 crushed stone producers, coming in at 59th in the list published by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Rankings were assigned according to reported and estimated tonnage by U.S. mine sites in 2022 – the most recent year data is comprehensively available. Information was compiled by the USGS National Minerals Information Center and reported on in Rock Products Magazine.

“We have long understood the significant role our rock plays in various industries, and we know the demand for it has steadily increased in recent years. This increase in our ranking reflects that,” said SGI President Justin P. Dunlap. “We feel privileged to be a trusted supplier of high-quality materials in the roofing and building materials industries.”

While rankings for 2023 are not yet available, the USGS National Minerals Information Center has stated that crushed stone in 2023 was the top nonfuel mineral commodity produced in the U.S. with an estimated 1.5 billion tons produced nationwide.
